Module Overview

This module covers the practical application of adhesive vinyl for signage, decals, vehicle graphics, and decorative surfaces. Students learn material selection between permanent and removable adhesive types, surface preparation, transfer tape techniques, and professional application methods for durable, long-lasting results.

Learning Objectives

  1. Differentiate between permanent (Oracal 651) and removable (Oracal 631) adhesive vinyl and select appropriately for each application
  2. Prepare surfaces for vinyl application including cleaning, temperature requirements, and surface compatibility assessment
  3. Apply transfer tape to weeded vinyl designs and execute both wet and dry application methods
  4. Demonstrate proper weeding technique for complex multi-layer designs
  5. Troubleshoot common adhesive vinyl failures including bubbling, lifting, and adhesion loss
