Surface Compatibility Guide

Surface Compatible? Notes
Glass Excellent Clean with IPA, fully dry
Painted metal Good Must be cured 30+ days
Powder-coated metal Good Must be cured 30+ days
Smooth plastic Good May need surface activator for polyethylene
Stainless steel Excellent Clean oils thoroughly
Wood (sealed/painted) Good Sealed surfaces only; raw wood absorbs adhesive
Wood (raw) Poor Adhesive absorbs into grain, weak bond
Textured/rough surfaces Poor Vinyl bridges texture, lifts at edges
Fresh paint (<30 days) NO Outgassing causes bubbles and lifting
Silicone/rubber NO Low surface energy prevents bonding
Fabric NO Use HTV instead

Troubleshooting Quick Reference

Problem Quick Fix
Small air bubble Pin prick at angle + squeegee
Edge lifting Warm with heat gun (100Β°F) + press
Transfer tape won't release Warm slightly, wait longer
Vinyl pieces left on tape Press harder, wait longer, use lower-tack tape
Vinyl won't stick to surface Re-clean surface, check surface compatibility
Colors misaligned Use clear tape, hinge method, work slower
