Module 3: Heat Transfer Vinyl¶
Duration: 3 hours | Microcredential: MCCPDL-U09M3-v1.0
Module Overview¶
This module covers heat transfer vinyl (HTV) materials, cutting techniques, and the heat press application process for creating custom garments, bags, and fabric-based products. Students learn the differences between standard, specialty, and printable HTV types, proper mirror-cutting workflow, and heat press parameters for various fabric types.
Learning Objectives¶
- Identify HTV types (standard, glitter, flock, puff, printable) and their appropriate applications
- Properly cut HTV with mirrored designs and correct blade/material orientation
- Determine correct heat press parameters (temperature, time, pressure) for HTV-to-fabric combinations
- Weed HTV designs and apply carrier sheet correctly for pressing
- Troubleshoot common HTV failures including peeling, scorching, and incomplete adhesion
Module Structure¶
- Slides: 3 slide presentations
- Activities: 2 hands-on labs
- Assessment: 12-question module quiz (70% pass threshold)
- Safety Protocols: 1 safety procedure document
- Student Materials: 1 reference guide
Prerequisites¶
